When choosing a bathroom vanity, you must choose which type will suit your needs best. There are three main types available: Pedestal, Cabinet or Floating.
Pedestal cabinets are the most popular, with people being more used to this type being fitted in most bathrooms with regular fittings. However, they can be limited with their storage capacity, though the more recent designs provide units with innovative drawers, cabinets and other such additions. These also help to give many pedestal units a more contemporary feel, which can be hard to achieve with this traditional, and sometime old-fashioned design.
Cabinet corner bathroom vanities offer far more practicalities in the storage stakes, as would be expected from the name of the product! However, the pros and cons of this needs to be carefully considered, as such a unit can make an already small space, seem further cramped. However, with today's modern and sleek designs, there are many that have been sympathetically styled, so this effect is minimized.
A floating unit offers the least options for storage. However, they really come into their own with their space saving measures, and obvious stylish appearance. But even with these, storage options can be included, with innovative drawers built into the basin, and shelves under-slung from the unit. There are even some with optional rails on the underside, for hanging towels and facecloths for example.
